Women, Men and Breaking Up
Is breaking up harder on women? Who have a stronger emotional reaction?
A study released a few weeks ago says, “Yes.” … But not really…
I took a look at the numbers and — really! — the sexes are much more alike than different.
There’s actually no “evolutionary” difference to explain (though the researchers say there is). Read the rest of this entry
Blinded & Sideways, Yet Magically Alive

Blinded, by Ashton EB Cutright-Bray
Digital collage, 2015
“Blinded” introduces us to a racially ambiguous “everywoman” who seems content.
But something’s not right.
She’s supported by a pink-tinged desert-scape. It’s beautiful. But dry. And half empty.
And sideways.
Beyond is the universe. Everything is available.
But our everywoman is blinded by the pink bar that keeps her from seeing her potential.
And we are blocked from seeing her eyes — the window to the soul. Read the rest of this entry
Laws “Protecting Women” Harm Them, Instead
Laws “protecting” women often end up harming them, instead.
That’s because limiting liberty is the real aim.
In 1905 a laundress sued her employer for making her work more than 10 hours — Oregon’s legal limit for women back then. The case eventually wound up at the Supreme Court, where her employer made this feminist argument:
Limits on women’s work hours discriminate against them.
But the Justices upheld the law, saying that women are like children, both needing special care. Read the rest of this entry
Sex Isn’t About Fun. It’s About Procreation
Sex isn’t about fun. If you want to have fun, read a book, go to a movie. Sex is about the procreation of children.
Jerome Corsi’s not alone in that belief. Read the rest of this entry
Objectification: Male & Female Fantasies
Some guys complain that they want to be objectified, too!
Judging from research at the University of Montréal, men may want to be objectified more than women do.
The researchers asked men and women to rank 55 fantasies and describe their personal favorite. The average age of respondents was 30, and 85% were straight, 3.6% were gay/lesbian and the rest were none of the above.
Findings? Below are the percentage of women and men who have had each fantasy: Read the rest of this entry
Tossed Between “Prude,” “Sexy,” and “Slut”
By Cassie Kent
I changed my Facebook profile picture to one showing me atop a small abandoned fishing boat in the Dominican Republic.
I’m wearing a black one-piece swimsuit. My arms are braced behind my head as I coyly look over my shoulder with a small smile aimed at the camera.
The photo was taken as my friends and I posed in exaggerated ways, pretending to be on America’s Next Top Model. Read the rest of this entry
Donald Trump’s Sexist, Racist Appeal
More than 40% of Republicans have favored Donald Trump for President at some point.
Some despite his sexism and racism. They’re just fed up with establishment politicians who are so busy serving wealthy interests (thanks $ in politics!) that they often ignore their middle-class and working-class voters. I get it!
But others appear to be drawn to his bigotry.
Why is that? Read the rest of this entry
Mad Max, Hunger Games, Dragons: From Domination to Partnership
Mad Max, Hunger Games, and How to Train Your Dragon are all movies I watched this year.
They all celebrate a move from domination to partnership.
Most of human history has been one of domination: Rich over poor, men over women, white over black and brown…
Yet prehistory held partnership cultures. To which we may return.
Much suggests that we are in transition toward partnership, including protest of the lily-white, male-heavy film industry and Oscars. And the trend toward partnership is meeting backlash from the likes of ISIL, right wing extremists, MRAs (Men’s Rights Activists), and more… Read the rest of this entry
Guys Don’t Expect Women To Be Porn Stars
I asked my male students if they thought that guys expected women to act like porn stars.
Most didn’t think so.
Keep in mind that these were all guys who were willing to take a women’s studies class (where I surveyed them). So they may have more gender-equal attitudes than most. But here’s what they thought:
About 50% thought that in real life guys didn’t expect women to act like porn stars.
The other 50% thought that at least some men did. But 20% of them said that they didn’t personally feel that way.
So overall, 70% didn’t expect women to behave like porn stars.
As they described it: Read the rest of this entry
