I’ve talked about reasons why some women watch gay porn.
Gay male porn stars are usually more attractive than their straight counterparts. And they seem to be having more fun than their female counterparts.
But some women watch gay porn for the sex ed.
Erotica author, Kristi Hancock, likes the hot guys. But she also says the porn introduces her to new sex positions — techniques that work better than the advice that straight women usually get.
Ms. Hancock is not alone. When the Telegraph’s Kaite Welsh asked women why they watched gay porn, several said they did it to learn about male desire and what men like.
Interestingly, a number of women watch straight porn for the same reason. Not to be turned on but to find out what guys want. It’s a little sad if women watch more for men’s pleasure than their own. And the motivation could be misleading since many guys don’t necessarily want to do things in real life that they see in porn. On the other hand, they just might learn some pretty great stuff that they and their partners can both enjoy.
Idiosyncratic reasons for watching gay porn
And then there are idiosyncrasies. Like “Alex,” a lesbian who says,
For me, it’s partly about wanting to have a cock, I’ve always been fascinated by the hydraulics—if I had a dick, how would it work?
Or there’s the pursuit of safe sex — meaning being turned on by something you can’t have, as Ginger Murray @ SF Weekly explained:
I will totally admit to having a thing for gay men. I love them. However, I am not their type. This attraction of mine could be a manifestation of my attraction to men who are not interested in me. But isn’t it true that often our sexual proclivities are directly inspired by our issues? Watching men enjoy each other allows me to enjoy the fantasy of being part of the play and simultaneously allows me to delight in not being involved at all.
Put it all together, and there are a few surprising reasons why women watch gay porn.

Growing up in China, I saw many of my guy friends or classmates catching up with sex education by secretly watching porn when they were underage due to the lack of sex education at home and school. This can be very scary or even dangerous because things Chinese teens get out from porn aren’t always correct knowledge and often time not enough for sex ed. Therefore many young people who learned about sex solely from porn are often misled when it comes to dealing with real relationships and sex life. It’s very unfortunate that porn is ruining my generation China due to the lack of proper sex education.
Furthermore, I wonder if the reason that women enjoy gay porn has to do with misogyny. As a woman, I see gay porn as sex between two parties that are equal in gender. For example, maybe neither of them has to worry about how they look during sex as often time women do in heterosexual sex. Because there’s perhaps less gender roles involved in homosexual sex.
Yeah, that does seem to be another reason why women watch gay porn. And I write about it in another post.
I tend to think that they could be psychoanalytic reasons behind… I found that Alex *i.e the lesbian* testimony above is quite eloquent!… Hence this issue could be related with the desire to have a penis., as the lack of it produces in Women what Freud called Castration Complex…. Well, all this theoretically speaking…
On the other hand, the Menage à Trois interpretation also makes sense to me… But I tend to think, at least intuitively, that most women would prefer to be with a woman and a man, instead of two men!… I am sure though which are the top trends when it comes to these kind of daydreams, though! ☺️ They probably difer, I guess…

This is fascinating! I never knew women watching gay porn was a “thing,” but for all the reasons you mentioned it kind of makes sense that it would be.
If you’re not into it it can sound pretty strange at first. And then you look at what the women have to say and it starts to make sense.
There are many women who liked Broke Back Mountain and of course the Twilight movies
I’m assuming you mean because the guys look good. Sure. That goes back to my last blog post.
Of course, there are also other reasons to like those two movies. Brokeback Mountain offered an important glimpse into what life is like when people can’t marry who they want to, marry someone they are actually attracted to. It’s not good for gay men or the women who love them — Women who would prefer to be with someone who loved them back. Twilight was a huge success as a series of books with no pictures. The fierce yearning that the men felt for the woman was probably the biggest draw for Twilight.

Not only because the men looked good but because for some reason some women like gay romance. More women are reading gay romance books than watching porn. There are women who are writing fanfiction stories about movie characters being gay. But reading a story cant offer sex ed so they are into it for other reasons
From my own perspective I don’t get it. I’d like to hear why these women like to read these romances.
